For healthcare providers

 

ACLS class:  Upon completion** of this class the participant will demonstrate know ledge of ”HIGH QUALITY CPR” and how to respond to cardiorespiratory emergencies by using the systematic ACLS guidelines of the American Heart Association, (AHA). You will know how to evaluate and manage a sudden adult respiratory arrest, VF/VT arrest, asystole, pulseless electrical activity, bradycardias, stable and unstable tachycardias, acute coronary syndromes, and acute stroke and electrical therapy.


PALS Class:  Upon completion** of this PALS class the healthcare provider will be able to understand how to recognize and prevent the common causes of pediatric injuries and emergencies that require resuscitation. You will understand how to recognize respiratory and shock emergencies, cardiac arrest, and initiate advanced resuscitation with airway and ventilation control, vascular access, fluid and medication therapy, as well as identify and treat rhythm disturbances.


BLS Class: Upon completion** of this class for the healthcare provider, the participant will learn and practice “HIGH QUALITY CPR” and be able to describe the links in the American Heart Association (AHA) Chain of Survival. This will include the call of 911, performing 1 and 2 rescuer CPR with rescue breathing using mouth-to-mouth, face shield, mouth-to-mask, and the bag mask device, basic use of an AED and relieving foreign body airway obstruction for the adult, child, or infant victim.

                          Course length: Approx.  3 hours.  Certification valid for 2 years.

 

For community and workplace

All Heartsaver Courses have been developed using the same evidence-based process as all American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care courses.  These classes can be completed separately or combined to meet specific workplace and individual needs.  Class lengths listed are approximate and will vary depending on actual number of participants in any given class.

 

Heartsaver CPR Class:  This courses will teach the lay person, with a duty to respond, (non healthcare providers) how to recognize cardiac arrest and choking emergencies for adult, child, and (optional) infant victims. Participants will learn and practice “HIGH QUALITY CPR”, using the Practice While Watch video. Participants will learn various breathing techniques: mouth-to-mouth, use of a face-shield barrier device, and mouth-to-mask.  The course will also teach how to relieve a foreign airway obstructions, (choking).  There is no written test for the Heartsaver courses, rather students will perform a practical skills evaluation.

             Course length:  3 hours.  Certification valid for 2 years.

Heartsaver AED Class:  This course will teach all aspects described in the Heartsaver CPR class in addition to use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Participants practice skills using the Practice While Watch video concept and perform a practical skills evaluation. There is no written test for the Heartsaver courses, rather students will perform a practical skills evaluation.

             Course length:  3 hours.  Certification valid for 2 years.

Heartsaver First Aid Class:  The Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches first-responder rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies, in the critical first minutes, until emergency medical services personnel arrive.  Students will learn how to identify and give aid to victims with the following conditions: asthma, stroke, choking, severe allergic reactions, use of epinephrine injectors, diabetic emergencies, seizures, bleeding, burns, broken bones, and a variety of environmental emergencies, including animal, insect, and snake bites, heat stroke and hypothermia.  This course combines knowledge as well as practical hands-on skills. The course meets OSHA requirements and provides corporations with a complete training solution for Adult First Aid. There is no written test for the Heartsaver courses, rather students will perform a practical skills evaluation.

             Course length: approx. 4 hours.  Certification valid for 2 years.
