Text Box: Q: Do you issue American Heart Association cards for all of your courses?

A: YES! Star CPR & Advanced Life Support only issues 100% genuine AHA Provider cards.

Q: How much time should I plan on spending to prepare for the new ACLS or PALS class?

A: Now that the new guidelines are in place, it is absolutely critical that students properly prepare for a class. Knowledge of core algorithms, drugs, and necessary EKG’s is a must prior to the class. This will determine your ability to pass the mandatory skills check and “hands -on” mega code portion. Those who utilize ACLS or PALS on a regular basis may require less preparation time.

Q: Can I use an AHA Provider book from previous classes?

A: No. All participants must have the most current (2005-2006) AHA Provider book in their possession during the class instruction. Please hold on to these books, as they should be valid for approx . 2 more years, and be sufficient for future renewals.

Q: Where can I get a current copy of the AHA Provider books?

A: You may choose to buy books online, borrow them from your employer, or purchase books through Star CPR & Advanced Life Support. (Remember: each participant must have a copy of the current book during the class instruction).

Q: Why can’t I download a Pre-Test for BLS? Is it necessary to complete one prior to attending a class?

A: At this time the AHA does not have a Pre-Test for BLS/CPR, therefore it is not necessary for our BLS/CPR classes.

Q: Can I renew online?

A: Yes. Keep in mind, however, that online courses do not include the cost of attending a “skills check-off”. The “skills check-off” must be performed through an AHA Training Center, Site, or with an AHA certified instructor. Any of these AHA entities will then issue your Provider Card upon successful completion of the “skills check-off”. Star CPR & Advanced Life Support instructors can observe, verify, and submit the documentation for your “skills check-off. (WARNING: not all online courses are taught in accordance to AHA guidelines, nor do they offer genuine AHA provider cards. See the AHA website for more information on their official
e-learning system).

Q: Can my credit card be charged and can I lose my deposit, or the cost of an entire class, if I don't notify Star CPR & Advanced Life Support or cancel the day of the scheduled class?

A: It is always our desire, at Star CPR & Advanced Life Support, to work with our clients and reschedule a class when needed. However, according to our “cancellation policy” Star CPR & Advanced Life Support has the right to do either or both, if you fail to make the necessary notification in a manner described therein. (please follow the link and read our refund policy for details).

Q: Will I receive my card and CEU’s the day of class?

A: At the present time, cards are not given out on the day of a class, rather, a letter of completion and a receipt will be issued upon request. Course rosters are then faxed to our AHA Training Center the day of class or the very next business day. Our Training Center will usually issue cards to Star CPR & Advanced Life Support within 14 days. CEU’s will then be mailed along with the card. If needed, for an additional fee, students have the option to express mail (expedite) the cards, Let us know if you should require such service.

Q: How long is my AHA Provider Card good for? Is there any “grace period” for renewals?

A: The AHA provider cards are good for 2 years and expire on the last day of the month it was issued. However, some employers may require that you renew on an annual basis. In addition, NRP cards are issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and these cards expire one day before the 2 year date of issue. There is no grace period for NRP cards.

DISCLAIMER: The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in ACLS, BCLS and PALS, and had developed educational materials for that purpose. Use of these materials does not represent sponsorship by the AHA and any fees charged do not represent income to the Association.
